Prayer Diary 2007 / 2008

WORSHIP

Thank God for every occasion we have to worship Him.
Pray that our worship will bring pleasure to His heart.
Pray that God will be glorified and honoured in our worship.
Pray that we will be full of thanks for Jesus our Saviour.
Pray that the Holy Spirit will be at work when we gather in Jesus name.
Ask that we will sense God’s presence and that lives will be touched.
Pray that our worship will have purpose and yet have the freedom in which we can respond to the Spirit’s leading.
Pray for the Minister as he prepares and preaches God’s word.
Pray that he will have the freedom and power of the Holy Spirit.
Pray that he will be able to bring a word from the Lord for every occasion.

Give thanks for the Music Team.
Pray for Harry as he leads the team and prepares the choir for special services.
Pray that new musicians will be added to the team as and when they are needed.
Pray that the music and the praise will draw us closer to God and help us worship him.

Pray for the Technical Team who look after the sound and the visual aids.
Thank God for their skill and dedication.

Pray for the team who prepare the material for the audio visuals projector each Sunday.

Pray for the Door Stewards who welcome people and find them a seat in a crowded church.
Pray that their warm welcome will help people relax as they come into Church.

FELLOWSHIP

Thank God for the close fellowship we enjoy in the Church.
Pray that with so many diverse personalities in the church, we will still be as one in Christ.
Ask God to safe guard our unity and to defend us against the devil who seeks to divide God’s people.
Pray that where difference of opinion arise, they will be resolved in a spirit of love and forgiveness.

Ask God to help us to always be servants to one another and to look out for each other’s welfare.
Pray that our fellowship will be inclusive and practical.

Pray that visitors or new members will be welcomed and drawn into congregational life.

Pray that our church will continue to grow, so that we will have future leaders, teachers, helpers etc.

Thank God for our small groups and the fellowship enjoyed in them.
Ask God to guide us as we think through the best way to structure our groups so that more people are drawn into them.

Pray for our Praise and Prayer nights, that more will attend and that we will be a church were prayer is taken seriously.

Pray that the monthly prayer sheets will be used widely.

DISCIPLESHIP

Pray for all who love the Lord Jesus, asking that they will understand what it means to be His disciple.
Ask God to give us a desire to learn from Jesus and to become like him.
Pray that we will be genuine followers of Christ.

Ask God to go on filling us with the Holy Spirit.
Pray that we will be open to the Spirit’s leading and sensitive to his prompting.
Pray that we will bear the “fruit of the Spirit” and become the presence of Christ to those around us.
Pray that we will not grieve the Spirit and hinder his work in our lives.
Pray that we will recognize the gifts the Spirit have given us and use them as best we can.

Ask God to give us a greater desire to read the Bible and to live by its teaching.

Ask God to help each Church member to maintain their own devotional life so that they continue to walk close to God.

SERVICE

Pray for the elders as they give spiritual leadership and pastoral care to the congregation.
Pray that when they meet for prayer and at Session meetings, they will enjoy fellowship and have wisdom in their decision making.

Pray for the Church Committee as it looks after the fabric and finances of the church.
Pray that we will be wise stewards of our resources.

Pray for the Church Office bearers:

Pray for all the Sunday School teachers.
Pray for the leaders and helpers in the Organisations.
Ask God to give them enthusiasm and wisdom in their leadership and love for those with whom they work.

Give thanks for everyone in the church who does numerous jobs to keep the church running smoothly.

EVANGELISM

Thank God for Jesus who loves us and gave his life for us on the cross.
Thank God for Jesus who came to seek and save the lost.
Thank God that Jesus can change any person and make them new.
Pray that we will see many uncommitted people coming to faith in Christ.
Pray that by our life and work together as God’s people in Ballydown we will be a powerful witness in our community.
Ask God to help each of our members to have a burden for lost people and to reach out to them with the love of Christ.
Pray that as our members are involved in the community and work place, they will have opportunity to share the good news of the gospel with others.
Ask God to show us specific ways in which we can point people to Jesus.
Pray that through the on going work in our Sunday Schools, Bible Classes and Organisations, boys and girls, and young people will become Christians.

Pray for a continuing interest in Missionary work.
Ask God to bless our missionary programme over the next year.
Pray that there will be committed giving to Mission.
Pray that we will have a greater concern for the poor and needy around the world.
Ask God to show us how we can make a difference in the lives of people we have never met.

CHURCH DEVELOPMENT

Pray that good progress will be made towards the building of the new church.
Pray for the Development Committee as it oversees the plans.
Pray for Harry, Chairman of the Committee.

Pray for the Architects, Hutchinson/Irvine Partnership as they deal with the Planning Authority and draw up detailed plans.

Pray that the work will be contracted out to the right builders.
Ask for wisdom for the Committee as they make that decision.

Pray that plans will be agreed by Presbytery and the Church Architectural Committee.

Pray that we will be able to raise all the money we need to start and complete this project.

Pray that the new church will bring honour to God alone.
Pray that it will be a suitable, modern centre from which present and future generations of members can serve and worship the Lord.

Pray for unity of purpose and intent in all phases of this new building.
Ask God to protect us against the devil who will seek to divide us as we progress in the work.

Pray that we will be a vibrant people of God who use the new church building to effectively serve Christ.
